Axalta Coating Systems introduced its Voltatex family of insulation coatings at the Coil Winding, Insulations & Electrical Manufacturing Exhibition (CWIEME) in Shanghai June 23- 24, 2015. Voltatex products have been tailor-made to enhance the performance, reliability and durability of motors and generators in China to respond to the increased demand for new electric cars and public transportation vehicles in the market. Voltatex innovative impregnating resin solutions will also be on display for use in the electromagnetic, insulation materials, coil, electric motor and transformer manufacturing industries. The Voltatex family of insulation products is comprised of wire enamels, impregnating resins and core sheet varnishes for use in electric motors, generators and transformers. Voltatex wire enamels are designed to provide longer corona-resistant lifespan for variable frequency motors. Voltatex impregnating resins aim to greatly increase partial discharge inception voltage by increasing discharge frequency and reducing partial discharge risks in motors, generators and transformers. Voltatex self-bonding core sheet varnishes provide improved cohesiveness and decay resistance, and create strong conductivity for new electric automobile motors. As an international leader in modern insulation materials, Axalta electrical insulation coatings have set a superior quality standards with its Voltatex brand since its first oil-free synthetic wire enamel in 1942. “Axalta is focused on sustainability and helping our customers meet both their commercial ambitions and their environmental goals. We have been at the forefront of insulating material development for the electric vehicle industry for a long time, and are very proud to be recognized by global automotive manufacturers as the leading global supplier of insulation materials to the electric motor transportation industry. We are honored to introduce our full line of leading technologies and solutions at CWIEME Shanghai 2015,” said Michael Cash, Senior Vice President and President of Industrial Coatings at Axalta. “This year’s show demonstrates the leadership role that China’s industrial customers contribute to the electric motor industry, as well as the importance of our customers to Axalta’s global strategy.” In 2012, China’s State Council estimated that five million alternative energy vehicles will be on China’s roads by 2020. The growth of alternative energy vehicles means that motors now have to deliver on more metrics including increased efficiency, improved weather and vibration resistance, greater integration with the gearbox, significantly greater environmental sustainability and all while remaining ever more reliable for daily use. These advances increase the demand for insulation materials used in motors. Axalta’s Voltatex is engineered to increase an electric motor’s lifespan, improve the motor’s efficiency and lessen the environmental impact. Axalta offers coating systems, extensive experience, and strong technical expertise to enable electric vehicle manufacturers to enter the market faster, more effectively and sustainably. Axalta companies have been present in China since 1984. This wealth of institutional knowledge has enabled Axalta to maintain its leadership role in developing innovative, cutting edge coating products. In addition to the recently-opened Jiading waterborne coatings facility, Axalta operates an adjacent plant in Jiading, a plant in Changchun, six powder coating operations in collaboration with its joint venture partner, four refinish training centers, and a Global Color Lab. Axalta also operates its Asia Pacific Innovation Center and its Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters in Shanghai. Axalta’s multiple resources in China work to support the sustained, long-term growth of China’s automotive, commercial transportation and industrial sectors that use Axalta coatings.
